For two-thousand years, Burma's Wa ethnic minority have been ringing in the harvest season with the festival of Kauk Thit Sar Pwe.<br /><br />The celebration was banned under military rule, as the post-1988 military junta silenced many ethnic traditions.<br /><br />Now, the Wa harvest festival is being celebrated again, with aspects of both traditional animist ceremony and the Christian beliefs left behind by British colonialists.
