JONESBORO, ARKANSAS — A prisoner tried to escape after being thrown from a squad car that was involved in an accident last Friday. <br /> <br />Officer Justin Thompson was injured around 5:22 p.m. when his patrol car overturned while he was transporting a prisoner to jail, according to a Jonesboro Police Department news release. <br /> <br />The prisoner, 19-year-old Logan Younger, fled the accident scene but was captured shortly after, according to KAIT. <br /> <br />Facebook user Kelly Gregson Taylor was able to catch some of the foot pursuit of Logan after the crash on her cellphone. <br /> <br />Officer Thompson was trapped in his squad car and had to be extricated by the Jonesboro Fire Department, according to KAIT. <br /> <br />Thompson was later transported to a Memphis hospital, where he underwent tests to determine the extent of his injuries. <br /> <br />Younger was taken to St. Bernard’s Medical Center for treatment and released. <br /> <br />He was transported to the Craighead County Detention Center and is being held on escape, public intoxication, fleeing on foot and minor in possession charges. <br /> <br />Younger was arrested earlier by Thompson for being drunk at the Mall at Turtle Creek. <br /> <br />The cause of the crash is under investigation.
