Aug 22, 2016 – A military alliance between Tehran and Moscow showed signs of strain as newly launched Russian bombing missions to Syria from an Iranian air base came to a quick end and Iran’s defense minister accused Russia of “showing off.” <br /> <br />Russia and Iran had been fostering closer ties centered around their mutual interests in Syria, where both back President Bashar al-Assad’s embattled government.
