Burma recently acknowledged for the first time that there are child soldiers within its military.<br /><br />In July the government agreed to stop recruiting children and to discharge existing soldiers under the age of 18 years. A joint action plan to do this was signed between the ministry of defence and a UN Task Force.<br /><br />But the forced conscription of children still continues.
