There has been more mechanical turbulence for Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner.

This time the problem is with the Rolls-Royce engines that are fitted to around a third of the planes.

Japanese airline ANA says it is having to cancel over three hundred flights this month and next to replace compressor blades in Trent 1000 engines which can become corroded.

Rolls Royce said it is “working closely with ANA to minimise the effect on aircraft service disruption”.

It did not say whether the problem had been found in engines on aircraft operated by other airlines.

Rolls Royce shares fell 1.75 percent on Thursday.

ANA is the biggest operator of the 787, with 50 aircraft, or around a tenth of those that are in service.

Three years ago the 787 fleet was grounded for three months due to battery fires and an Ethiopian Airlines plane suffered a small fire when a component on board short circuited.
