Hurricane Hermine made landfall early Friday in Florida with a furious mix of rain, whistling winds and surging waves -- then weakened into a tropical storm as it wobbled toward Georgia.<br />Hermine had maximum sustained winds of 80 mph when it made landfall, prompting the National Hurricane Center in Miami to warn Floridians to expect "life-threatening surge and flooding rains."<br />Across Florida, there were reports of downed power lines and debris.<br />Even with the storm moving into Georgia, officials warned people to remain home due to the dangers posed on the streets.
