<br /> <p>A group of drone manufacturers from Washington tested out the power of their new model by using it for a new purpose: drone surfing.</p><p>Video from the experiment shows a mix of technology and water sports, with a drone taking the place of a kite that might be used in wake boarding.</p><br /><p>According to Hugh Bell from Freefly Systems, the team practiced on the ground with a skateboard before taking to the sea. The team then used a skimboard to get some distance while an eight rotor drone pulled the surfer along the water.</p><br /><p>The team pointed out that the maneuver was performed by Firefly employees and professional drone pilots and that it should not be replicated.</p><br /><p>A version of this video with rights-free music is available via the download link.
