NEW YORK — The web-browsing function on 400 WiFi kiosks across New York City will be disabled after complaints about homeless people watching porn and masturbating at the stands, officials said.

The kiosks, which provide free WiFi, USB charging outlets and a tablet for free internet access were installed earlier this year, according to the Gothamist.

Critics have also complained about people monopolizing the kiosks and even pulling up chairs while using them, according to City Lab.

And then there are the complaints about those using the kiosks to stream porn while pleasuring themselves in the process.

According to the Associated Press, the consortium that put in the LinkNYC kiosks are removing the web surfing function while they look into possible ways to stop their abuse.

“The kiosks were never intended for anyone’s extended, personal use and we want to ensure that Links are accessible and a welcome addition to New York City neighborhoods,” LinkNYC said in a statement.

The kiosks will still allow free domestic calls, phone-charging and WiFi for people who have their own devices, AP reported.
