EU should offer 'constructive criticism' to China - Dalai Lama

The Dalai Lama has told the European Parliament in Strasbourg that the EU should offer “constructive criticism” to China.<br /><br /> The Tibetan Buddhist spiritual leader made both serious and light-hearted comments during his visit.<br /><br /> He said he hoped that the Tibetan issue would be resolved.<br /><br /> “There is hope and I think it is important that the outside world, particularly like the EU, I think with sincere motivation to in order to help People`s Republic of China with some sort of constructive criticism, is sometimes necessary,” said the Dalai Lama.<br /><br /> Communist troops took control of Tibet in 1950 in what Beijing calls a “peaceful liberation.”<br /><br /> The Dalai Lama fled to India nine years later after a failed uprising against the Chinese.<br /><br /> “We are not seeking independence,” he said. “History is history.
