The latest New York Times/CBS News poll finds Donald J. Trump and Hillary Clinton in a tight race for votes.<br />National polling averages show that Clinton’s margin over Trump has narrowed from eight points in early August to two points today.<br />Clinton is doing better among women, nonwhites and younger voters, while Trump leads among whites, 51 to 40 percent.<br />Among white women, the candidates are virtually tied: 46 percent for Clinton and 45 percent for Trump.
