Come Command <br /> <br />For more videos download our app free here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/dogtrainingapp/id1105311443?ls=1&mt=8 <br /> <br />Getting your dog to sit, come and stay are the three basic obedience commands every dog parent needs to teach their furry child. <br /> <br />The most coveted of the three is the COME COMMAND. <br /> <br />This is not surprising as getting your dog to come on command is not only convenient, it can keep your dog out of harm's grasp. <br /> <br />For example, imagine your dog being off leash and running toward a busy street. If you have a solid come command instilled, you will be able to call out to your pup and have him come running to your safety. <br /> <br />However, most dog parents go about teaching the command in the wrong manner and end up teaching their dog to run away. <br /> <br />This happens because they are making a big mistake. <br /> <br />AND YOU`LL WANT TO AVOID THIS ONE MISTAKE <br /> <br />Most dog owners magically expect their dog to just understand English and the verbal meaning of the word “come”. <br /> <br />They`ll suddenly call out to their dog, and since their dog doesn't understand english, the command sounds like “blah blah blah!” to their dog. <br /> <br />The owner will keep calling out to no avail. <br /> <br />Finally, when their dog does come they will scold their dog for all the times he didn`t come and put the poor pup on the leash. <br /> <br />Sound familiar? <br /> <br />Let's take a look from the same incident from the dog's point of view. <br /> <br />FROM THE DOG'S POINT OF VIEW <br /> <br />Dogs are very associative. <br /> <br />From the dog's perspective he has learned that every time you say his name plus the word “come” it just means he will be scolded and/or put back on the leash, thus losing his freedom. <br /> <br />Here is what your dog is associating the come command to: <br /> <br />Come = Being Scolded + Losing Freedom <br /> <br />Now every time the come command is used the dog is going to ignore it and run in the other direction BECAUSE HE ASSOCIATES COMING AS A NEGATIVE OUTCOME. <br /> <br />WHAT YOU SHOULD DO INSTEAD <br /> <br />What you'll want to do is pretty simple and pretty much the opposite of above. <br /> <br />You'll want to make coming to you one of the greatest things in the world for your dog. <br /> <br />In the video above you'll learn a practical exercise you can do on your next walk to show your dog that coming to you is the GREATEST THING IN THE WORLD! <br /> <br />For more free tutorial videos subscribe to our page and check out our free dog training app here: http://www.thedogtrainingapp.com
