MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIFORNIA — Google’s self-driving Lexus SUV has been involved in a serious car crash last Friday with its front right door completely smashed.

The crash took place at the intersection of Phyllis Avenue and El Camino Real in Mountain View, California.

The traffic light was green for at least 6 seconds before its self-driving car entered the intersection, Google said in a statement, stressing that its vehicle was not at-fault.

Soon after, another car travelling westbound on El Camino Real ran a red light and crashed into the right side of the self-driving car. No one was hurt in the accident.

Apart from Mountain view, Google is testing its fleet of 58 self-driving cars in three other locations including Kirkland, Phoenix and Austin.

Google had boasted its zero at-fault accident history until one of its self-driving Lexus SUV stuck a bus in February this year, breaking its perfect record.
