Five women were killed by locals at Kanjiya Maraitoli village under Mandar police station, 30km from Ranchi in the intervening night of Friday and Saturday for allegedly practising witchcraft. According to a local in Kanjiya Maraitoli four children died in the last six month after prolonged illness. The locals believed that the women practised witchcraft and were responsible for the death of the children.
