Dutch journalist killed in Libyan city of Sirte

A prominent Dutch photo journalist has been killed in Libya while covering clashes in the city of Sirte. <br /><br /> Jeroen Oerlemans was reportedly shot dead by an ISIL sniper on Sunday. <br /><br /> In 2012, he was kidnapped and wounded in Syria, but freed a week later. The 45-year-old’s death comes amid intense fighting in the Libyan coastal city. <br /><br /> Backed by US air strikes, forces aligned to the country’s UN backed government in Tripoli have been battling to recapture the ISIL bastion since May. <br /><br /> Along with the Dutch journalist, at least 10 fighters from the jihadist group and eight government troops were killed in Sirte on Sunday.<br />
