European probe set to touch down on Mars

The European Space Agency’s Schiaparelli spacecraft is on course to land on Mars, after it successfully separated from its mothership, the Trace Gas Orbiter, on Sunday. <br /><br /> The probe is due to land on the Red Planet’s surface on Wednesday in a controlled decent, if all goes well. <br /><br /> Once there, Schiaparelli is set to take images and conduct scientific measurements. It has also been dispatched to test technology for a future rover mission to Mars.<br />
