BOURNEMOUTH, ENGLAND — Graphic CCTV footage captures the moment a man rips a wooden plank off a building before smashing it into the face of a Spanish speaking man in a racially charged assault. <br /> <br />Daniel Way, 37, was found guilty of racially aggravated assault after he attacked Tomas Gil on May 19, the Metro reported. <br /> <br />Footage shows Way yanking a plank from a building before charging at Gil and another woman. <br /> <br />Way then strikes him in the face, causing Gil to go limp and fall to the ground. <br /> <br />Members of the public then chase after Way and restrain him until police arrive to arrest him. <br /> <br />Prosecutor Simon Jones told the court the defendant shouted at the victim “******* Spanish, speak in English,” according to the Express. <br /> <br />Gil sustained cuts and bruises to the mouth. He also said he felt like he lost consciousness for a moment. <br /> <br />Way’s defense was that he was upset and drinking because he just broke up with his girlfriend. <br /> <br />He was sentenced to 12 months in prison, but won’t have to serve any time as long as he stays out of trouble for the next 15 months. <br /> <br />He also has to complete 150 hours of community service and take part in 25 rehabilitation activity days as well as pay the victim £800.
