Samsung is stepping up its efforts to retain customers following the overheating Galaxy Note 7 fiasco.<br /><br /> It is offering a discount upgrade option to Note 7 customers in South Korea who swap their recalled phone for a Galaxy S7.<br /><br /> That means when the Galaxy S8 or Note 8 smartphone is launching next year they will be able to upgrade and only pay half the retail price.<br /><br /> The world’s top smartphone maker has not yet said if that offer will be available outside South Korea. <br /><br /> Samsung has also not commented on the increasing number of compensation law suits it is facing from customers in South Korea and the United States.<br /><br /> It permanently ended Note 7 sales due to continued reports of the flagship device catching fire.<br /><br /> Galaxy Note 7 owners are angry Samsung is refusing to pay compensation https://t.co/kVETsLv3A7 pic.twitter.com/kwirXjSpqo— The Verge (@verge) October 22, 2016<br />
