MEXICO CITY, MEXICO — Passengers on a flight to Mexico City got a scare on Sunday when a venomous snake appeared in the cabin.

A Twitter video captured the moment the reptile wiggled into the passenger section of the Aeromexico flight from Torreon in northern Mexico to the capital on Sunday.

Passenger Indalecio Medina said the person next to him saw the snake emerge from an overhead storage bin. Everyone got up and unbuckled their seat belts to keep a safe distance from the scaly intruder, AP reported.

The snake, a three-foot-long viper, then dropped down to the space between rows 5 and 6, allowing couple of passengers to use a blanket to trap it and put an end to the drama.

The flight was quickly granted priority landing after the pilot contacted the air traffic control tower at Mexico City’s airport.

Aeromexico said they are investigating how the snake got on the plane and will take measures to prevent such incidents from happening again.
