For Democrats holding out hope that they won’t have to suffer a Donald Trump presidency, there is one last, incredibly long shot — a twist in the Electoral College.<br />Though Clinton won the popular vote by 200,000, Trump won the minimum of 270 electoral votes needed to be elected president.<br />According to the Constitution, chosen electors of the Electoral College are the real people who will vote for president, when they meet Dec. 19 in their respective state capitals.<br />There is nothing stopping them from refusing to support Trump.<br />Though the idea of electors trying to reverse the vote is sometimes discussed — going “faithless” is very rare.<br />Given the high dissatisfaction with Trump among Republicans, a few faithless GOP electors could go rogue next month.
