Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez, who passed away in a boating accident on September 25, was voted NL comeback player of the year by his peers.<br />The award was given as part of the Players Choice Awards that are voted on by every member of the Major League Baseball Players Association.<br />Fernandez was the NL Rookie of the Year in 2013 before having Tommy John surgery in 2014.<br />He was 16-8 this year with a 2.68 ERA before he passed away at age 24.
