"Jacob the Liar" by Jurek Becker was first published in German in 1969. Like his earlier two famous novels, this book also proved to be highly successful. It was made into two movies, in 1975 and 1999. <br /> <br />Melvin Kornfeld translated this novel into English in 1975. Later on, a new English translation was made in 1990 by Leila Vennewitz and Becker. This book was published in 1996.
