Angela Merkel announced on Sunday she wants to run for a fourth term as German chancellor in next year's election.<br />She made the announcement in Berlin in front of a CDU party banner 'The Center' .<br />The move is likely to be welcomed in many capitals as a sign of stability following shock poll triumphs for Brexit and Donald Trump.<br />"I thought about this for an endlessly long time.<br />The decision to run for a fourth term is - after 11 years in office - anything but trivial" Merkel said.
