'We won't accept Brussels' diktat' - Hungary's PM reiterates anti-migrant stance

Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orban has reiterated his objections to the EU migrant resettlement scheme, saying he won’t accept what he called the Brussels ‘diktat’.

Despite a referendum deemed invalid and losing parliamentary vote on his anti-migrant policies, he continues to speak his mind on the matter, this time on an official visit to Serbia, where he defended his position saying:

“Life changes in countries where migrants arrive in masses. Maybe not in a day, but in a few years it will and our children and grandchildren will ask us: why have you allowed our homeland to change, why have you allowed Europe to change?”

He argues that the migrant question is one of national sovereignty. The country has already responded to the flow of migrants over its border with a razor-wire fence.

Orban’s last hopes of refusing 1,294 asylum seekers, are with the European Court of Justice, where a verdict is expected on the case next year.
