A retail chain is being scrutinized after footage showing the company allegedly duping customers with their Black Friday sale went viral.

Lizzy Brown shared two videos to Facebook, November 24, unveiling what she claimed was Harvey Norman’s dishonesty. This video shows her removing a sale price ticket, and at first glance, it looks like the original price was actually cheaper than it’s ‘reduced’ rate, while another video shows Brown examining a sofa in the store.

Harvey Norman have since explained that the ticket underneath was for a tablet with a lot less memory. This claim by the store checks out — as seen in the zoomed-in screenshot included below. The original price is for a 16GB tablet, as opposed to the 32GB mentioned on the yellow ticket.

However, the retailer has yet to defend the other video shared by Brown, showing its Fantasia three-seater sofa on sale for €1,499. Again, Brown removed the sale price, and revealed that the price prior to Black Friday was the exact same.

The videos have since gone viral, with the tablet footage gathering over 900,000 views on Facebook at the time of writing.
