Over 100 security force members were dispatched for a massive police operation around Montferrier-sur-Lez, near Montpellier on Friday morning, after a masked attacker stormed a Catholic missionaries retirement home killing at least one person on Thursday evening. <br /> <br />The suspect is thought to have broken into the residence, a home for around 70 retired nuns, priests and monks, armed with a knife and a sawn-off shotgun. When police arrived, they found an elderly female warden bound, gagged and stabbed to death outside the building. The assailant had already escaped from the scene. <br /> <br />The identity and the motives of the attacker remain unclear at the time of writing.
