NORFOLK, VIRGINIA — Officials are still on the lookout for a red panda that went missing from a Norfolk zoo this week, and are hoping a geothermal camera will help with the search.

According to a statement released by the Virginia Zoo, Sunny the red panda was last seen in her habitat around 5 p.m. on Monday, but was nowhere to be found when the red panda habitat was checked the next morning.

Staff conducted a thorough search of zoo grounds, but didn’t find Sunny. They are hopeful that the 19-month-old is just hanging around somewhere in the zoo, but it’s also possible she wandered off the property.

The zoo is advising anyone who spots Sunny to immediately call the zoo hotline and not to touch or feed the red panda.

She may be cute and cuddly, but she’s still a wild animal.
