Lava Sprays Erupt From Piton De La Fournaise Volcano

<br /> <p>The Piton de la Fournaise Volcano on the French island of La Réunion erupted for four days in a row, between January 31 and February 3. This video shows the phenomenon in the early hours of February 2.</p><p>To capture these images, Eric Gentelet walked for more than 3 hours in the night to arrive at 2,000 meters (1.2 miles) elevation just before sunrise.</p><br /><p>“I began walking by night at 3 am to arrive when the sun was rising, to have the best light and be sure not to get too much rain when coming back,” he said.</p><br /><p>The last time the volcano erupted was in September 2016</a>.
