A fishing crew wrestled in a massive blue marlin weighing 466 kg (1,027 pounds) on February 25, the second-largest blue marlin ever caught off New Zealand.

Angler Wade Wilson spent about two hours reeling in the fish while aboard a boat called the Hot Lips. Wilson and his team, a skipper and one other crew member part of the Muriwai Sports Fishing Club, were out at sea competing in New Zealand’s national fishing competition known as the Nationals.

While Wilson pulled in the money shot, the final pull came in 40 minutes after final submissions for the weight station, said Jed Radaly, a fellow fisherman with Muriwai Sports Fishing Club, who recorded this video. But we’ve a feeling Wilson won’t let the tardy weigh-in damper his spirits.

According to Marlin Magazine, the biggest-ever blue marlin catch occurred in 1982 off Kaaiwai Point in Hawaii, when anglers reeled in a Pacific blue weighing 625 kilos (1376 pounds).
