Nicole Kidman isn’t a robot person, alien, or a seal dressed as a human. <br /> <br />The actress made headlines during the 89th Annual Academy Awards for an extremely awkward clap that caught social media by storm. <br /> <br />Thankfully, Nicole got a chance to explain to the Kyle and Jackie O Show why she had such a strange method of applause… You can blame it on the Harry Winston rings she was wearing. <br /> <br />She tells the show, “It was really difficult because I had a huge ring on that was not my own… It was absolutely gorgeous, and I was terrified of damaging it.” <br /> <br />We speculated that she didn’t want to damage her nails, but we didn’t even think of the very expensive, borrowed jewelry that is always adorned by guests at the Oscars. <br /> <br />Nicole also raised the question, what would be worse? Her awkward clap, orShe tells the show, “Gosh, I want to clap. I don’t want to not be clapping, which would be worse, right?
