ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) has challenged mechanism of conducting countrywide sixth ‘Population and Housing Census’ in Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday, ARY News reported. <br /> <br />Former Spokesperson of Presidential Office and Leader PPP, Farhatullah Babar, filed a petition in SHC in which Federal Government, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), and other concerned authorities are nominated. <br /> <br />The petition states that several matters relating Census 2017 have kept confidential, which is depriving the masses from right to know. <br /> <br />It urges that the entire procedure of conducting census should be transparent. <br /> <br />The former spokesperson while talking to media persons said that he had written a letter to Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and expressed his concerns on census 2017. <br /> <br />“Complaints from Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are also being received”, he said while urging key information must be shared with the masses via internet. <br /> <br />It is worth mentioning that Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah had also expressed concerns over procedure of conducting census 2017 and said that terms and conditions of census were being violated. <br /> <br />In this context, MQM-P Leader Farooq Sattar also urged anti rigging measures for census 2017 by stating people should be taken into confidence. <br /> <br />The sixth population and housing census are being conducted after 19 years in the country, however, various political parties have expressed concerns and reservations over it.
