<p>A major fire beneath Interstate 85 in Midtown Atlanta snarled traffic and caused a section of the 12-lane highway to collapse on Thursday afternoon, March 30, as commuters were headed home.</p><p>Traffic was backed up for miles on either side of the fire, which sent heavy black smoke billowing over the Atlanta skyline.</p><p>A section of the northbound lanes collapsed about 30 minutes after the fire started.</p><br />
