by Jeff Donlan

In China, surgeons replaced a man’s ear with one they had grown…on his arm. The patient lost his ear in a traffic accident. Cartilage was taken from the patient’s ribs and cut into the shape of an ear. It was then placed under a flap of skin on his forearm and left to grow. After four months, the ear was fully grown, and ready to be transplanted. The seven hour surgery was a success, and the patient is said to once again have a functioning ear.

The post Ear Transplanted From Man’s Arm To Head appeared first on Vocativ.
