France knock Great Britain out of Davis Cup

France reached the semi-finals of the Davis Cup after Nicolas Mahut and Julien Benneteau beat Jamie Murray and Dominic Inglot 7-6 (9-7) 5-7 7-5 7-5 to give them an unassailable 3-0 lead in Rouen on Saturday (April 8). <br /> <br />With world number one Andy Murray missing from the British team, France came into Saturday's doubles match with a 2-0 lead after comfortable wins for Lucas Pouille and Jeremy Chardy on Friday (April 7). <br /> <br />Mahut and Benneteau took a tight first set in a tiebreak after saving one set point, but the British hit back in the second set, taking it 7-5 after breaking serve in the eleventh game. <br /> <br />Murray and Inglot then broke to lead 3-2 in the third set, but the French duo came back with a break in the eighth game and another in the 12th to take the set 7-5. <br /> <br />The fourth set went with serve until the 12th game, when the French took the match on their second match point to win in three hours, 23 minutes. <br /> <br />France will play Serbia in the semi-finals, after they took an unbeatable 3-0 lead over Spain in Belgrade on Saturday.
