<br /> <p>Protesters against new laws that could lead to the closure of Budapest’s Central European University (CEU) took to the streets once again on the evening of Monday, April 10.</p><p>On the same evening, Hungarian President Janos Ader signed the amendments to the Higher Education Act into law, local media</a> reported.</p><p>Tens of thousands of people took part in a similar demonstration on Sunday. The new legislation bans non-EU registered higher education institutions from awarding diplomas.</p><p>The CEU was founded by Georges Soros in 1991 and is registered in the US. The university’s chairman</a> said he was “determined to remain in Budapest.”</p><br />
