ST. CHARLES PARISH, LOUISIANA — A LaPlace woman was killed in an enormous explosion on April 13 when a semi-truck hauling around 8,000 gallons of gasoline smashed into the back of her dump truck on Interstate 310. <br /> <br />Charlanta Brown, 44, was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident occurred around 8 a.m. near the Hale Boggs Bridge in St. Charles Parish, Nola.com reported. <br /> <br />Brown was driving a 2008 Sterling dump truck in the right lane at a “very slow rate of speed” when a 2013 Kenworth 18-wheeler crashed into the back of Brown’s dump truck, according to Louisiana State Police. <br /> <br />The collision caused the dump truck to flip onto its passenger side, while the fuel tanker burst into flames, engulfing Brown’s vehicle in flames, authorities said. <br /> <br /> <br />Dash cam footage captured by Andreas Plyler shows the horrific moment the tanker burst into flames on Thursday morning. <br /> <br />The driver of the semi-truck, Glen Robichaux Jr., escaped from the cab and was transported to the hospital with moderate injuries. <br /> <br />The cause of the accident it still under investigation. Authorities are unsure why Brown was driving so slowly.
