Bad cops: Woman shot dead by police in Indonesia when car fails to stop at checkpoint

SOUTH SUMATRA, INDONESIA — Putting your foot on the gas pedal at a police traffic stop in Indonesia is not only a bad idea, it’s one that could prove fatal. <br /> <br />Video footage shows the aftermath of a police shooting in southern Sumatra on Tuesday, in which a 50-year-old woman lost her life the cops’ bullets. <br /> <br />According to the cops, it all went down when a black Honda refused police orders to pull over. <br /> <br />Seven members of the same family were inside the vehicle at the time, but when the car approached a police checkpoint it sped up and gave the cops the swerve, the Sriwijaya Post reported. <br /> <br />Well, the cops didn’t take too kindly to that, so chased the car and unloaded 10 shots to try and get it to stop. <br /> <br />That resulted in the death of one of the passengers. <br /> <br />She was identified as a 50-year-old woman named Surini. She was shot in her left thigh, stomach and under her right breast. <br /> <br />Other members of the family survived with gunshot wounds. <br /> <br />The local police chief said his men were out of line and hadn’t followed official police procedure. A police investigation is now underway.
