<p>Thousands of people marched in Los Angeles on Monday, April 14, to commemorate the 102nd anniversary of the Armenian genocide.</p><p>Two marches were planned and drew tens of thousands, according to a report</a>. One of the marches ended at the Turkish consulate.</p><p>More than 1 million Armenians died at the hands of the Ottoman Empire in Turkey in 1915. The Turkish government denies a genocide took place, and the United States does not recognize the event as a genocide. The state of California, however, does.</p><br />
