<p>The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said</a> on May 1 that they had recaptured several areas from Islamic State (IS) in Tabqa, killing about 48 IS members in the fighting.</p><p>The forces also continued combing</a> the newly recaptured areas of Mahajea, Busraba, Abu Eish and other neighborhoods in Tabqa.</p><p>Raqqa IS Being Slaughtered Silenty</a>, an anti-IS activist group, said that SDF controlled most of the city.</p><p>The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights</a> also said that SDF captured old Tabqa, and reported on heavy clashes elsewhere in the city.</p><br />
