<p>Following weeks of fighting against Islamic State in Mosul with no major advances, Iraqi forces have launched a new offensive from the north of the city, according to Iraqi sources</a>.</p><p>The new offensive meant that Islamic State forces were battling on two fronts against Iraqi forces in areas including the historic Old City and the streets around the Grand al-Nuri Mosque, an important stronghold.</p><p>Iraqi forces were reported</a> on May 4 to have made several advances during the new offensive.</p><p>The footage was shared by the Iraqi Federal Police and is described as showing Iraqi forces north of Mosul.</p><br />
