Uber is under investigation for allegedly using software to help evade authorities.<br />The 'greyball' software would have allowed Uber to operate in several areas that restrict, ban, or have not yet approved it.<br />Transport regulation officials posed as passengers to catch Uber, but greyball later helped the company block those users from accessing the app.<br />Back in 2017, The New York Times wrote about the scrutiny, with Uber claiming the software helped them limit fraud and discern the legitimacy of ride requests.<br />Uber is also battling in court with Google for allegedly stealing plans from the latter's self-driving car project.
