<p>The West Mims Wildfire grew to more than 140,000 acres</a> on Tuesday, May 9. The fire in the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge is 12 percent contained.</p><p>Evacuation orders were in place for the southern end of Charlton County, according to the incident report</a>, and a number of highways were closed.</p><p>The smoke from the fire could be seen as far south as Jacksonville, Florida, and officials had issued a smoke alert</a> for the area. Nearly 700 firefighters from across the southeast are battling the wildfire.</p><p>Conner Edwards, who took this footage and is a Charlton County firefighter, said on Facebook this footage was taken as the fire crossed Highway 94.</p><br />
