Torrential Rain Swamps Coquimbo Streets

<p>A storm system in the Pacific brought unseasonably heavy rain to Coquimbo, Chile, on Thursday, May 11.</p><p>AccuWeather</a> reported that the storm was expected to deliver torrential rain to Chile’s central coastal region and trigger heavy snowfall further inland through the weekend.</p><p>The storm has already generated significant rainfall with Chile’s Cooperativa</a> reporting that the Coquimbo area had received continuous rain since Wednesday evening, and the National Emergency Office</a> of Chile declared the region to be under a rainfall Yellow Alert, along with Atacama, Valparaiso, Metropolitana and O’Higgins. The storm also knocked out power to 13,000 people.</p><p>This footage shows several of Coquimbo’s flooded streets.</p><br />
