<p>A group of black-clad journalists gathered at Aguascalientes’ Plaza de la Patria</a> on May 16 to hold a memorial for award-winning journalist Javier Valdez</a>, who was killed the day before.</p><p>Valdez was fatally shot in Culiacan, in the northwest Mexican state of Sinaloa on Monday. He was the sixth journalist killed in Mexico in 2017, according to El Pais</a>.</p><p>Protesters and journalists across Mexico rallied on Monday against the violence journalists in the country face.</p><br />
