New Orleans Confederate Memorial Removed

<p>The Robert E. Lee Memorial, the last of four Confederate monuments in New Orleans, was removed on Friday, May 19.</p><p>Those who support the removal of the statues were gathered to watch and were seen dancing, singing and chanting.</p><p>New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu and his administration has been working to remove the four monuments, which include statues of Confederate President Jefferson Davis and Gen. P.G.T. Beauregard and a monument honoring the Battle of Liberty Place, for years. The other three monuments already have been removed.</p><p>The other three statues were removed during overnight hours, and protesters were gathered at each as they were removed.</p><br />
