A number of Arab countries severed diplomatic ties with Qatar, accusing it of being involved with extremists. Some have even closed their borders, leaving the country isolated on the Arabian Peninsula. But it does appear that new alliances could be forming, as Iran and Turkey are backing the Gulf nation in the dispute with its neighbours.
