Full security across Karnataka on eve of new year 2017

The Bengaluru city police have taken many security measures to ensure no untoward incidents happen on the eve of New Year. More than 16,000 policemen are deployed to maintain peace in the city. For the first time the deadline for the celebration is extended till 2 am, but police won’t be linienent on the drink and driving. “A special drive will be conducted on drink and driver (DD),” said police commissioner NS Megharikh.<br /><br />Movement of vehicles on the flyovers across the city will be stopped from 9 am on December 31 (today) till 6 am on January 1 to avoid accidents.<br /><br />40 KSRP batallions, 30 CAR platoons, RAF, home guards and civil policemen will be part of the security. CCTV cameras are installed in sensitive areas, Megharikh said.
