<p>Hundreds of protesters</a> gathered in Herrman Park in Houston, Texas, on June 10, in response to rumors on Facebook</a> that there was an effort to get a statue of Sam Houston removed from the park.</p><p>The Houston Press</a> said the rumors were started by an “alt-right troll group,” saying several left-wing groups would demonstrate before the statue on June 10 in order to get it removed.</p><p>Sam Houston</a> was the first president of the republic of Texas, and is known for bringing Texas into the United States.</p><br />
