<br /> <p>Scores of people have been killed in wildfires burning in the Portuguese area of Leiria, including a forested area known as Pedrogao Grande, on the weekend of June 17-18</a>.</p><p>Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa said</a> at least 61 people had been killed and referred to the fires as “the greatest tragedy of human lives we have seen in Portugal in recent times.”</p><p>He said many were killed trying to flee in their cars.
