<p>As part of World Refugee Day, the UNHCR highlighted its collaboration with the IKEA Foundation</a> to transform the Azraq Refugee Camp</a> in Jordan into the world’s first of its kind to be powered by renewable energy, beginning in May 2017</a>.</p><p>According to an official press release</a>, the solar farm has brought renewable power to a population that lived for two and a half years with only sporadic access to electricity and will contribute to Jordan’s national energy strategy to achieve a green economy by 2020.
