Six people have been charged with criminal offences relating to the deaths of 96 people at the 1989 FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Nottingham at Hillsborough football stadium. Former senior police officer David Duckenfield, who was in charge of police operations at Hillsborough on the day of the disaster, <br />has been charged with the manslaughter by gross negligence of 95 men, women and children. Relatives of the victims broke into applause when the announcement was made this morning.
